Professor Folasade Ogunsola
Professor Folasade Tolulope Ogunsola is the 13th Vice-Chancellor and the first female Vice-Chancellor in the history of the University of Lagos (UNILAG). A distinguished Professor of Medical Microbiology, she is widely recognized for her contributions to infectious disease control, public health research, higher education leadership, and institutional development.
Prior to her appointment as Vice-Chancellor in 2022, she served as Provost of the College of Medicine, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services), and Acting Vice-Chancellor of UNILAG. Throughout her career, she has championed academic excellence, innovation, digital transformation, research advancement, and international collaboration.
She serves on several national and international scientific and policy bodies, including advisory roles with the World Health Organization (WHO), the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), and other public health institutions. Her contributions to academia and national development have earned her numerous recognitions, including the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
As Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ogunsola is focused on positioning UNILAG as a future-ready institution through digital innovation, research excellence, global partnerships, infrastructure development, and the cultivation of graduates equipped to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
